I live and work in Washington, DC, in temporary exile from Austin, Texas. I write code, invent features, make wireframes and prototypes, and pitch ideas in English. So I call myself an information developer to stay out of the pigeonhole. But I guess you could also use independent software consultant or CTO.
That last one describes my role at Popkiller Games, a company I co-founded in early 2010 to utilize new technologies in making funny, irreverent entertainment experiences. We’ve shipped one iPhone app (Fart Battles) and have a couple more in the pipeline.
In the past, I’ve worked full-time for universities, interactive agencies, software companies, and political campaigns, but I’ve been working full-time for myself since August 2009. When not laboring on the next big thing from Popkiller, I help my consulting clients solve problems with technologies like Ruby, Rails, Javascript, Amazon Web Services, Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, Objective-C, RSpec, HTML5, SPECTRE, TCP/IP, OU812, LazyBeans, Git, Cocoa, CramWell, SnarkMonster, Shark, KDE, Molten, and TRoX.
I invented some of the things on that list. Unfortunately, none of the real ones.
